- (Kiiiivoon ( discusión ) 11:06 23 may 2023 (UTC))

Hola, CurryTime.

The article categories included: Ukrainian classical composers, Ukrainian classical pianists, so not sure why you would consider this to be unacceptable? Nationality honestly isn't an issue. The article made it abundantly clear there is debate on whether he should be considered Ukrainian or Russian. You are free to add List of Russian composers if you like. Both lists actually have Bortkiewicz so I think that's the most neutral way to present this. Thank you.Kazuha1029 (talk) 21:33, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
Hello, thank you very much for reviewing the 'Zheng Chongbin' article. I sent the following message back in October as a 'reply' comment under the article, but perhaps it hasn't been delivered, so just resending it here.
I just wanted to ask for a clarification on the comment that the article doesn't have significant coverage of 'published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject'. The article references a number of reliable, indepenent and peer-reviewed academic publications, such as the Yishu journal, Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, ArtAsiaPacific etc. Moreover, the article has numerous links to independent and non-profit museum websites that have works of the artist in their collection - like The Met in New York or LACMA in LA. Please let me know your thoughts on this, and if the decision could be reconsidered please. Thank you for your time and kind assistance.

Thank you for reviewing my draft!
It's my first article attempt and I may have bitten off more than I can chew...
I understand that one of your concerns is that the subject is not notable enough due to the lack of independent references with significant coverage. However my understanding of notability based on WP:Notability (Music) is that the subject would meet a few of the other criterion, e.g singles in the national music charts, albums released with a notable record label. Do you think these could be applied here or is better to abandon this draft?
Also, I will remove most of the basic biographical information, and keep just the minimum e.g date of birth. For this, I believe it would be acceptable to reference the subject's own website based on WP:BLPSELFPUB, if I understand it correctly?
Thanks again and happy holidays!

The first bit of the Stravinsky revision is finished on my end! If you're still up for writing the section on his American years, I've finished my bit of the bio. Please do revise and rework how you see fit! I want to ensure there's a common style throughout the article.
The next part for me is to continue writing the missing sections: namely, "Recordings", "Legacy" (which I may copy some of from the former article), and possibly a "Religion" and "Politics" section. I don't know when I'll have these done, as the regular busy routine is picking back up, but I hope to have it done soon
On your end, if you're still up for it, I'd be marvelous if you could write the section on his American years and to add some Russian sources to the first half. My source diversity was... lacking at times (not proud of refs 101-120 essentially being all EW White). But this is a hard one to write! Walsh and White are the main English-writing scholars on this matter that I can find, and a lot of Stravinsky's own accounts were disproved by Walsh. But, I digress... too many sources, so few reliable
Also, see the subsection "Possible sources", where I'm storing some uncited sources in case they're desired later. If you do cite something new (which I expect will happen) put it with the normal references section- I use User:Ucucha/HarvErrors to track citation errors and unused source templates. Thanks so much again for collaborating to bring this article to best it can be- the New Grove Dictionary may be prestigious, but it won't reach nearly as many people as this article will. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Hello CurryTime7-24,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Hello! Been a while since we've talked- I've finished the draft of the Stravinsky rewrite (see it in my sandbox) and wanted to know if you were still interested in adding some Russian sources. It could use some diversification- right now it relies heavily on various texts by Walsh and White, but I've tried adding some other things in to widen the sourcing scope. If you are, I'll likely transfer the rewrite to the actual article soon, and you can add sources there. Thanks! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 15:09, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Enjoy today's story, related to my topic of the year: 300 years Bach's chorale cantatas, and the first was written for today. The music opens with a French overture for a chorale fantasy. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:55, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Franz Kafka died 100 years ago OTD, hence the story. I uploaded a few pics from the visit of Graham87. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:27, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Today is "the day" for James Joyce, also for Bach's fourth chorale cantata (and why does it come before the third?) - the new pics have a mammal I had to look up --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:09, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
New pics of food and flowers come with the story of Noye's Fludde (premiered on 18 June), written by Brian Boulton. I nominated Éric Tappy because he died, and it needs support today! I nominated another women for GA in the Women in Green June run, - review welcome, and more noms planned. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:17, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
The story is today about the first published composition by Arnold Schönberg which I was blessed to hear. Listen, and perhaps read what Alma Mahler (to-be-Mahler at the time, to be precise, who was present at the first performance) said, and yes that was too much for the Main page ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:39, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
Today's story is about a Bach cantata premiered 300 years ago OTD. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:23, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
3 July is the birthday of Leoš Janáček, and I'm happy I had a meaningful DYK in 2021. It's also the birthday of Franz Kafka, and I uploaded pics from his family's album seen in Berlin. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:17, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
Pictured on the Main page: Brian's Mozart family grand tour, my story today, and Mozart related to all three items of music on my talk: our 2023 concert, an opera in a theatre where a Mozart premiere took place, and those remembered, Martti Wallén, a bass, and Liana Isakadze, a violinist from Georgia, (whose article would be better with more details about her music-making). - I thought of you when I listened to Yulianna Avdeeva last week. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:58, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Today's story is about an outstanding violinist from Georgia, which is a sad story in the end. We should have articles about the three red-link composers. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:44, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart again if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:45, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the expansion of Wilhelm Schüchter. I should look into Dortmund sources ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:26, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for help with the cellist. Do you happen to know what he played for his debut in the US? - Today I have two "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, watch and listen, - I like today's especially because you see him at work, hear him talk about his work and the result of his work - rare! - Meneses will come in two days, tomorrow is Gibson's day at The Proms. - Which youtube would you suggest for him? So far Beethoven sonata #3 for me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:01, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
... and a third as promised, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:18, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for Shostakovich's Piano Quintet which looks like a FA in the making. The cellist will be today's story. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:14, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
... and perfect timing with anniversary of the 7th Symphony! - Could we add to the cello concerto mentioned in the story? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:49, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
On 8 August 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sarah Gibson (composer), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Sarah Gibson, who formed a piano duo with Thomas Kotcheff, composed warp & weft inspired by the art of Miriam Schapiro, to be played today by the BBC Philharmonic at The Proms? ... for adding to Berezovsky! Today's story has 3 composers, I couldn't decide for the one on the Main page or the one who didn't make it on his bicentenary, so took both, and the pic has a third. Listen if you have a bit of time. The music, played by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra in Germany in April 2022, impressed me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:17, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for going to ERRORS. (I don't feel welcome there.) We have a pioneering composer, and all DYK says about him is that he died. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:37, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
Recommended reading today: Frye Fire, by sadly missed Vami_IV. - BWV 87: I guess I better give up trying to get a DYK on the 300th anniversary, so no problem not to mention it in a hook. But do we really have to leave it as harmless as only smile-inducing, when the greatness lies in the contrast of the duet to the opening which has been compared to the opening chhoruses of the St John and St Matthew Passions, and the chromatic motif which comes 13 times in the B minor Mass appears 27 times in bass, instruments and voices? I wasn't able to word that, but perhaps you can. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:58, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi, CurryTime - Thanks for the excerpt regarding whether self-published reviews may be included under critical reception. My issue with these particular ratings is that they're taken from "grade lists" without any supporting discussion. Do they still pass what you would believe are Wikipedia standards? They strike me more as personal inventories than criticism. (I'll freely admit, too, that anyone who rates Birth of the Cool a 'B+' or Giant Steps an 'A-' strikes me as a lacking in professional judgment, but I understand that taste can't be the sole criterion.) Hess endorses Falla's modernism w/ref to Geertz's "all culture is local"; also Grove: "Spanish composer. The central figure of 20th-century Spanish music, he addressed over the course of his career many of the salient concerns of modernist aesthetics (nationalism, neo-classicism, the role of tonality, parody and allusion) from a unique perspective."
R. Halffter is more minor but definitely modernist; Albéniz is more debatable, sure. (It depends on how expansive your definition of modernism is, mostly.) MONTENSEM (talk) 01:16, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you sent a message about an edit of dive bar. I deleted it, because the source does not translate 'bruin café' with dive bar, it does not mention the word dive bar at all. And honestly, in Dutch, 'bruine kroeg' just does not mean dive bar: they can be dimly lit, sure, but most of them are not shady or shabby at all. 2001:1C02:1990:A900:D095:29B0:DD63:D058 (talk) 14:24, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
