Tingewick es un pueblo y una parroquia civil a unas 2,5 millas (4,0 km) al oeste de Buckingham en el área de autoridad unitaria de Buckinghamshire , Inglaterra. La parroquia limita al norte con el río Great Ouse , al este con un afluente del Great Ouse, al oeste con el límite del condado con Oxfordshire y al sur con los límites del campo.

La parroquia comprende alrededor de 2300 acres (930 ha) de tierras agrícolas y pastos principalmente cultivables con algo de bosque. Parte del pueblo es un Área de Conservación y varias de las 450 viviendas son edificios catalogados .
Los restos de una villa romana proporcionan evidencia de que la parroquia estuvo habitada tempranamente. [2] Está a unas 440 yardas (400 m) al noreste del pueblo, a unas 200 yardas (180 m) del río y se encuentra al este de Tingewick Mill. [3] La villa fue parcialmente excavada en 1860-1862. [2] [3]
El topónimo se deriva del inglés antiguo para "vivienda de Teoda". El Libro de Domesday de 1086 registra el pueblo como Tedinwiche . [2]
La parte más antigua de la iglesia parroquial de Santa María Magdalena de la Iglesia de Inglaterra es la nave normanda del siglo XII . [2] La nave norte de tres tramos se añadió alrededor del año 1200. [2] El presbiterio y el campanario gótico perpendicular [4] se añadieron a finales del siglo XV. [2] La nave norte fue modificada en el siglo XVII, la nave sur se añadió en 1830 y el pórtico sur en 1867. [2]
The tower has a ring of five bells.[2] The oldest was cast in London in about 1490[5] and is inscribed Nomen Magdalene Campana Gerit Melodie.[2] The second bell was cast by Bartholomew Atton of Buckingham[5] in 1591.[6] Robert Atton of Buckingham[5] cast the fourth bell in 1623[6] and the treble bell in 1627.[6] The youngest bell in the ring is the tenor, cast by Henry Bagley III of Chacombe and Witney[5] in 1721.[6]
The village has one public house, the Royal Oak, with The Crown, a grade II listed building, closing permanently in 2013. Tingewick has a village hall, a Post Office and village shop, a pottery, an auction room, an agricultural metal work factory, an animal feed warehouse and a farm supplies depot.
Tingewick is served by Roundwood Primary School,[7] which was formed by merging the Tingewick and Gawcott infants schools.
The village has held three large charity concerts called 'Party in the Paddock' in 2004, 2005 and 2008.[8] The event has included acts such as Bernie Marsden, Roger Daltrey with The Who, Zak Starkey, Marillion, Don Airey and Nikki Murray. There are rumours circulating that Peter Andre is set to appear in the summer of 2022 along with special guest Naan Bread, however nothing has been officially confirmed.
Tingewick Meadows is a Site of Special Scientific Interest south of the village.
