2020 football competition
La fase de grupos de la UEFA Europa League 2020-21 comenzó el 22 de octubre de 2020 y finalizó el 10 de diciembre de 2020. Un total de 48 equipos compitieron en la fase de grupos para decidir 24 de las 32 plazas en la fase eliminatoria de la UEFA Europa League 2020-21 . [1] [2]

El sorteo de la fase de grupos se celebró el 2 de octubre de 2020, a las 13:00 CEST , en la Casa del Fútbol Europeo en Nyon , Suiza . [3]
En el caso de asociaciones con dos o más representantes, los clubes podrían ser emparejados de manera que jugaran con diferentes horarios de inicio (18:55 CET y 21:00 CET) para beneficio de la audiencia televisiva. Si un club emparejado fuera sorteado, por ejemplo, en los grupos A, B, C, D, E o F, el otro club emparejado, una vez sorteado, sería asignado automáticamente al primer grupo disponible de G, H, I, J, K o L.
Los siguientes emparejamientos fueron anunciados por la UEFA después de que se confirmaran los equipos de la fase de grupos: [4]
En cada jornada, un grupo de seis equipos jugó sus partidos a las 18:55 CET/CEST, mientras que el otro grupo de seis equipos jugó sus partidos a las 21:00 CET/CEST, alternándose los dos grupos en cada jornada. Los encuentros se decidieron después del sorteo, mediante un sorteo por ordenador no mostrado al público, con la siguiente secuencia de partidos (artículo 15.02 del Reglamento): [5]
El 17 de julio de 2014, el panel de emergencia de la UEFA dictaminó que los clubes ucranianos y rusos no se enfrentarían entre sí "hasta nuevo aviso" debido a los disturbios políticos entre los países. [6]
Nota: Las posiciones para la programación no utilizaron los bombos de clasificación, por ejemplo, el Equipo 1 no fue necesariamente el equipo del Bombo 1 en el sorteo.
Hubo restricciones de programación: por ejemplo, los equipos de la misma ciudad (por ejemplo, Celtic y Rangers , Arsenal y Tottenham Hotspur , Sparta de Praga y Slavia de Praga ) en general no estaban programados para jugar en casa el mismo día de partido (para evitar que jugaran en casa el mismo día, debido a la logística y al control de multitudes), y los equipos de "países de invierno" (por ejemplo, Rusia) no estaban programados para jugar en casa el último día de partido (debido al clima frío).

Formato
En cada grupo, los equipos se enfrentaron entre sí en un formato de ida y vuelta . Los ganadores y subcampeones de cada grupo avanzaron a los dieciseisavos de final , donde se les unieron los ocho equipos que ocuparon el tercer puesto de la fase de grupos de la Liga de Campeones .
Desempates
Los equipos se clasificaron de acuerdo a los puntos (3 puntos por victoria, 1 punto por empate, 0 puntos por derrota) y, en caso de empate en puntos, se aplicaron los siguientes criterios de desempate, en el orden indicado, para determinar las clasificaciones (Artículo 16.01 del Reglamento): [5]
- Puntos en partidos cara a cara entre equipos empatados;
- Diferencia de goles en partidos cara a cara entre equipos empatados;
- Goles marcados en partidos cara a cara entre equipos empatados;
- Goles de visitante marcados en partidos cara a cara entre equipos empatados;
- Si más de dos equipos estaban empatados y, después de aplicar todos los criterios de enfrentamiento directo anteriores, un subconjunto de equipos seguía empatado, todos los criterios de enfrentamiento directo anteriores se volvían a aplicar exclusivamente a ese subconjunto de equipos;
- Diferencia de goles en todos los partidos del grupo;
- Goles marcados en todos los partidos del grupo;
- Goles marcados como visitante en todos los partidos del grupo;
- Victorias en todos los partidos del grupo;
- Victorias visitantes en todos los partidos del grupo;
- Puntos disciplinarios (tarjeta roja = 3 puntos, tarjeta amarilla = 1 punto, expulsión por dos tarjetas amarillas en un partido = 3 puntos);
- Coeficiente de clubes de la UEFA .
Grupos
Los partidos de la fase de grupos se confirmaron el 2 de octubre de 2020. [8] Las fechas de los partidos fueron el 22 de octubre, el 29 de octubre, el 5 de noviembre, el 26 de noviembre, el 3 de diciembre y el 10 de diciembre de 2020. Los horarios de inicio programados fueron las 18:55 y las 21:00 CET/CEST.
