Hello. I aim to get this review done within a week from now. Steelkamp (talk) 14:00, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good article criteria

Well written

That's it for the prose review. Its a very well written article. I have made some small changes myself in addition to the three above points. I'll do a source review next and I expect to have some comments about broadness in coverage. Steelkamp (talk) 15:43, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiable with no original research

Luckily since there are not that many references, I managed to spot check all of them. I found no issues there, although I made a few minor changes to citation formatting myself. Steelkamp (talk) 06:59, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Broad in its coverage

I found nothing that could be used to expand this article in my spot check of the references. However, when looking at the Japanese Wikipedia article on Ozaki, I found this source, which says his three remaining children travelled back to Japan after he was arrested in 2019. That could be added to the "Personal life" section. Steelkamp (talk) 06:59, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral

Stable

Illustrated, if possible

No images, understandably. Steelkamp (talk) 06:59, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

General

Only a few things to fix. A short but good article. Steelkamp (talk) 06:59, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your kind and helpful review. I've taken care of everything, although I noticed a slight hiccup in the article's first sentence: "born 1982" in is parentheses, while "as Sajit Chandra Debnath" is not, something more noticeable when previewing the article as parenthesized segments are hidden. There is also no comma before the word "also" in the same sentence. However you feel is best to address this is fine with me. Anonymous 18:34, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've improved that sentence based on the examples at MOS:BIRTHNAME. There is possibility for further improvement, but I'll leave it as that for now and pass the review. Steelkamp (talk) 02:44, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the article to the "Political figures" GA category, although I'm not 100% certain that is the best category. Feel free to move it somewhere else if you think that would be better. Steelkamp (talk) 02:54, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Overall: Article is new enough, long enough, and is well-sourced, but the source used here has an issue (see Buxton comments below). Possibly hook could be improved (see comment below), a really interesting article John Cummings (talk) 19:15, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I changed the review status thanks to Bruxton for flagging the issues. John Cummings (talk) 19:23, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ALT1: ... that before changing his name to Mohammad Saifullah Ozaki, the then-Ritsumeikan University associate professor Sajit Debnath hid his beard with a surgical mask?--Launchballer 02:55, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alt2 ... that Mohammad Saifullah Ozaki is considered an expert on Islamic finance and economic theory? --evrik (talk) 03:17, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer ALT1 but let's see what @John Cummings and An anonymous username, not my real name:. If you like either John Cummings, give it a green tick again. Bruxton (talk) 03:32, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bruxton, evrik, An anonymous username, not my real name, Launchballer, Z1720 I honestly don't know what the right thing to do is here, his article is almost entirely about his radicalisation and militancy but the hooks refer to his academic knowledge and wearing a surgical mask. Which seem kind of coincidental to the main content of the article. Is there anywhere we can ask for wider input? John Cummings (talk) 13:46, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The deafening silence may mean that not many people care about this nomination. How about this:
  • Alt3 ... that Mohammad Saifullah Ozaki was a Japanese academic born to a Hindu family in Bangladesh who became a leader in the Islamic State?
--evrik (talk) 17:45, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
evrik If you'd be willing to accept:
  • ALT3a: ... that Mohammad Saifullah Ozaki, an academic in Japan born to a Hindu family in Bangladesh, became a leader in Islamic State?
I can approve it. (Everything's in ref #4.)--Launchballer 08:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let's roll.--Launchballer 14:53, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to everyone for working through this, glad it go to a good place, lets roll indeed :) John Cummings (talk) 20:34, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Detail about wife

Fascinating article and well-written. I'm seeing a Twitter post claiming that it was Ozaki's wife that was Muslim and that she converted him; is there reliable sources to back this up? If so she would be part of the small ethnic Japanese Muslim community. I'm not spotting any in English on a few quick searches; maybe something's in Japanese? 104.232.119.107 (talk) 18:02, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
