The Bowerman Track Club (BTC) is an American training group sponsored by Nike, Inc. for professional distance runners as well as a separate recreational club for casual runners. The professional team is supported by head coach Jerry Schumacher and assistants Shalane Flanagan, Chris Solinsky, and Alex Ostberg.[2] The non-professional elite team is coached by Elliott Heath.[3] The club maintains a rivalry with the competing Oregon Track Club, also sponsored by Nike, Inc.[4]
The team moved from Portland to Eugene in 2022.[5]Gabriela DeBues-Stafford left the club in 2022, citing lack of clarity around Shelby Houlihan's continued relationship with the team following Houlihan's doping ban and Schumacher's opposition to AIU and WADA.[6][7]
Mission
As the organization states itself:
"The Bowerman TC exists to provide runners of all abilities with the knowledge and motivation to pursue their individual goals. This extends to everyone in the running community whether their goal is to enjoy a relaxed & fun social setting for their runs, or to qualify for the Olympic Trials."[8]
