Armas cuarteadas de Henry Percy, séptimo duque de Northumberland, KG, PC, FRS Henry George Percy, séptimo duque de Northumberland , KG PC FRS (29 de mayo de 1846 - 14 de mayo de 1918), llamado Lord Warkworth entre 1865 y 1867 y Earl Percy entre 1867 y 1899, fue un político conservador británico . Fondo Percy era el hijo mayor de Algernon Percy, sexto duque de Northumberland , con su esposa Louisa, hija de Henry Drummond . Lord Algernon Percy era su hermano menor. Se hizo conocido con el título de cortesía Lord Lovaine cuando su abuelo sucedió en el ducado de Northumberland en 1865 y como Earl Percy cuando su padre sucedió en el ducado en 1867.
Carrera política Percy was returned to parliament for Northumberland North in 1868.[1] In 1874 he was sworn of the Privy Council [2] and appointed Treasurer of the Household under Benjamin Disraeli ,[3] a post he held until 1875.[4] From 1879 to 1883 he was Chairman of the National Union of Conservative and Constitutional Associations .[citation needed ] The Northumberland North seat was abolished in 1885 and Percy was not elected for another constituency.[1] Two years later he was summoned to the House of Lords through a writ of acceleration in his father's barony of Lovaine.[5]
From 1909 he was made an alderman on Middlesex County Council .[6]
Civic and military appointments Percy succeeded in the dukedom in 1899 upon his father's death and was made a Knight of the Garter the same year.[7] He later served as Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland from 1904[8] until his death in 1918[9] and was Lord High Steward at King George V's coronation in 1911, where he bore St Edward's Crown .[10] He was President of the Board of Governors of Durham University College of Science (in Newcastle) in 1902,[11] and from 1913 he also served as the second Chancellor of the University of Durham .[citation needed ]
He was president of the Guildford Agricultural Association from 1902.[12]
He was honorary colonel of the 2nd Northumberland (Percy) Artillery Volunteers until it was disbanded in October 1902.[13]
Family Northumberland married Lady Edith Campbell, daughter of George Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll , on 23 December 1868. They had 13 children:

Henry Algernon George Percy, Earl Percy (21 January 1871 – 30 December 1909), unmarried.Lady Margaret Percy (30 August 1873 – 29 January 1934), unmarried. Lady Victoria Alexandra Percy (12 February 1875 – 18 January 1958), married Sir Robert Tidmarsh. Hon. Josceline Percy (26 January 1876 – 31 January 1898), unmarried. Honorable. Ralph William Percy (9 de marzo de 1877 - 28 de marzo de 1889), murió en la infancia. Lady Mary Percy (30 de agosto de 1878 - 18 de marzo de 1965). Se casó con Aymer Edward Maxwell y fue madre del autor y naturalista Gavin Maxwell . [14] Alan Ian Percy, octavo duque de Northumberland (17 de abril de 1880 - 23 de agosto de 1930).Lord William Richard Percy CBE DSO (17 de mayo de 1882 - 8 de febrero de 1963), se casó con Mary Swinton, hija del capitán George Sitwell Campbell Swinton. Lord James Percy (6 de enero de 1885 - 20 de mayo de 1903), murió soltero. Eustace Sutherland Campbell Percy, primer barón Percy de Newcastle (21 de marzo de 1887 - 3 de abril de 1958).Lady Muriel Evelyn Nora Percy (14 de julio de 1890 - 23 de noviembre de 1956), soltera. La duquesa de Northumberland murió en julio de 1913, a la edad de 63 años. Northumberland le sobrevivió cinco años y murió en mayo de 1918, a la edad de 71 años.
