National Football League draft
El draft de la NFL de 1979 fue el procedimiento mediante el cual los equipos de la Liga Nacional de Fútbol seleccionaron a jugadores de fútbol universitario aficionados . Se conoce oficialmente como la Reunión Anual de Selección de Jugadores de la NFL. El borrador se llevó a cabo del 3 al 4 de mayo de 1979 en el Hotel Waldorf Astoria de la ciudad de Nueva York , Nueva York . [1] [2] La liga también celebró un draft suplementario después del draft regular y antes de la temporada regular.
Los Buffalo Bills tuvieron la primera selección general del draft, adquiridos de los San Francisco 49ers en el intercambio que envió a OJ Simpson al equipo de su ciudad natal. La selección de los Bills en el puesto número 1, el apoyador de Ohio State, Tom Cousineau , se negó a firmar con los Bills y en su lugar firmó un acuerdo lucrativo con los Montreal Alouettes de la Liga Canadiense de Fútbol .
