Los Premios Agatha , llamados así por Agatha Christie , son premios literarios para escritores de misterio y crimen que escriben en el subgénero de misterio tradicional: "libros tipificados por las obras de Agatha Christie... definidos vagamente como misterios que no contienen sexo explícito, sangre excesiva o violencia gratuita, y no están clasificados como 'hard-boiled' " . [1] En una convención anual en Washington, DC, [2] los Premios Agatha son entregados por Malice Domestic Ltd , en seis categorías: Mejor novela; Mejor primer misterio; Mejor novela histórica; Mejor cuento; Mejor no ficción; Mejor misterio infantil/juvenil. Además, en algunos años se entrega el Premio Poirot para honrar a personas que no sean escritores que hayan hecho contribuciones destacadas al género de misterio, pero no es un premio anual.
Las primeras reuniones del Comité de Malice Domestic tuvieron lugar en el otoño de 1987, y la primera convención se celebró del 21 al 23 de abril de 1989 en Silver Spring, Maryland. [3] [4] Malice Domestic Ltd se constituyó en 1992. Está gobernada por una junta directiva de voluntarios. [5]
