Name

I removed Karen Lucille "Lucy" Hale from the article as I can't find any reliable source that supports that name. I added Lucy Kate Hale as I can find plenty of sources for that name including the allmusic one I added as support. There are credits for that name as well. The IMDb bio is not usable as a bio source per WP:IMDB and WP:RS/IMDB and the info there is copied from Wiki anyway so in this case is obviously unusable as a source for any info in this articleOk I found lots of fan-sites that gave "Karen Lucille Hale" as her birth name and state that she changed it to "Lucy Kate Hale". Most of these look to be copying info from IMDb. TV.com gives that name but it too is not a reliable source. If Karen Lucille "Lucy" Hale is to be put back in the article need a reliable source. Also see requirements at WP:BLPPRIVACY for name references. Geraldo Perez (talk) 06:05, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also note that Karen Lucy Hale was first added to the article with this edit August 21, 2005. Also added at the same time was a fan-site that could be the ultimate source of the name. Given that this has been in the article since 2005 and wiki is used as the source of info for lots of other site's bio info, it may be hard to find a pure source that has not been influenced by what was originally here. --Geraldo Perez (talk) 06:26, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For anyone who cares to note...her name is Karen Lucille Hale...In the very least Lucille/Lucy is her middle name for sure. They quizzed the male PLLs actors and one question was, 'Which girl goes by her middle name.' Lucy was the answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.237.64.45 (talk) 03:54, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, lots of people think that. Still don't have a reference which we need to put this in the article. Some article where she herself gives that info would be best. Her verified twitter would work if she reveals that info there. Maybe someone with a twitter account could ask her. So far all we have is references that support Lucy Kate Hale and nothing else. Edit request on 26 January 2013

Please change Lucy's name from Lucy Kate Hale back to her birth name Karen Lucille Hale! Lucy made reference to her birth names via her Twitter account (@lucyhale) on September 1, 2012. These were responses to fans, one who asked if she had ever been called Karen, to which Lucy replied "Lucy since birth"; and another who asks why she was named Karen if she isn't called Karen, where Lucy then replies "Both are grandmothers names. keeping it in the fam". These come from Lucy's verified Twitter account. Jamieleemaree (talk) 14:04, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am unable to verify what what stated above. She made three tweets on September 1, 2012 [1], [2] and [3]. None of them said what you reported above. It is best if you link to the actual tweets (like I did here) instead of just reporting a date. Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:19, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm from Australia so the dates here are one ahead of the States. The tweets are [4] and [5]. Both are replies to fans. Jamieleemaree (talk) 02:53, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK she confirmed that Karen is part of her name and that she has never used it. She also didn't say that Lucy was short for Lucille. It normally is, of course, but sometimes people get diminutives for a proper name so can't make presumptions. So she confirmed that her name was either Lucy Karen or Karen Lucy at birth and she has always used Lucy. Currently she is using Lucy Kate as her name. Still don't know enough to say what her birth name was. I wish someone would just ask her on twitter so we can put this to rest. Either way it still looks like her current (possibly legal) full name is Lucy Kate Hale given current references and listed credits. --Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:08, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I guess that isn't anough to verify. BUT, she isn't using Lucy Kate Hale anymore, she is credited as Lucy Hale on Pretty Little Liars. Jamieleemaree (talk) 04:06, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This reference, used in the article, still says Lucy Kate Hale is her full name with her commonly used name Lucy Hale. She has credits both ways, like lots of actors who sometimes use their full name then revert to a short name as they get more well known. We still need to go with what references support for bio info about any person. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:32, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well i found a reference to her name, sorry to butt in though:

With a tagline of "TV news and celebrity gossip the way you like it!" doubt that this is a reliable source of information. Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:24, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Baby Daddy

A few weeks or months ago I added on the Television list that Lucy will be guest starring on the ABCF show Baby Daddy sometime next year on the source that the producers agreed with a guest role for her after she literally beg for it on a interview with one of the show's actors Tahj Mowry, unfortunatelly it was removed, but now that its official and pictures with Lucy on the set of BD appeared on the internet, is it enough for you to add that on the list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DCF94 (talk • contribs) 22:56, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tonight, (Wednesday, February 5, 2014) Lucy Hale played Piper, a preacher's daughter on Baby Daddy. This should be added to the list to make it current. Her list of TV Shows needs to be updated. It is confirmed by many sources and not only that, you can go the the ABC Family Website itself to confirm. -- 05:56, 6 February 2014‎ User:Saraandtoby
I've added Baby Daddy to the TV credits. It seems now that the only problem is her character's last name. I watched the episode she appeared in, and clearly heard the name Stockwell mentioned. I've added it twice now, and it was changed each time. -- CollisionCourse (talk) 04:15, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What did the credits in the episode say? That would be authoritative and that should be the character name in the article no matter what any other source says. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:38, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I just watched parts of the episode again. Even though "Stockwell" is clearly said referring to her character, "Stockdale" is shown in the closing credits. Talk about weird. QuasyBoy (talk) 05:13, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I heard it wrong, so I watched it again also. Like QuasyBoy stated above, "Stockwell" is said but "Stockdale" is in the closing credits. "Stockdale" it is. -- CollisionCourse (talk) 05:20, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fan pages are not proof of anything other than rehashing stuff found on net. Need something that meets requirements at WP:RS. IMDb is not a reliable source for bio info. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:00, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BUT the YouTube interview was abc family sponsored and therefore reliable and they state that her real name is Karen and To get Lucy her middle name must be lucy Lucille or something close to that — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.140.218.13 (talk) 00:56, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well there IS proof her real name is Karen http://www.wetpaint.com/pretty-little-liars/gallery/which-pretty-little-liars-girl-changed-her-name-lucy-hale-or-troian-bellisario#2 AND this proves her middle name is Lucille and it IS valid — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.14.214.27 (talk) 21:07, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A web publication with no reputation for fact checking makes an assertion. Who is Alissa Kombert and where did she get her information. She doesn't say, she just makes an assertion. We have a reliable source in the article already - it disagrees. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:25, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is this "reliable" source You said and I quote "A web publication with no reputation for fact checking makes an assertion. Who is Alissa Kombert and where did she get her information. She doesn't say, she just makes an assertion" and that is the same thing as your "reliable" source who is by some guy named Chris how do we know who Chris is? That website could be false and just have made up facts!!!!! SO YOURS IS JUST AS RELIABLE AS MINE

Yes Allmusic.com is a widely respected publication that does have a reputation for fact checking. It is widely used as a reference in Wikipedia. Wetpaint.com does not have that reputation. If you would like another opinion on this post a question at WP:RSN. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:31, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well who is this Chris true person how do you know he is reliable and the other person isn't AND they don't show resources so they could have incorrect info everywhere — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.188.48.107 (talk) 03:01, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

She has actual credits as "Lucy Kate Hale". That is verifiable by watching the credits list for Bionic Woman for example so that name is not just asserted by only Allmusic.com. It is a pretty strong stretch to go from what she is credited with and assert, without a reliable source, that she has some other name that she never uses. Again, if you want to push this some more ask for an opinion at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and if you get consensus there that Wetaint.com meets our standards as a reliable source then there would be no problem using it in this article. I did look into that source though and I don't see it as reliable. What is really needed is some statement from her directly. Maybe ask her on her twitter account and see what she says. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:34, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First of all technically all of that information could be FALSE unless it came right from her mouth and does Wikipedia list allmusic as a reliable source? And this is a public website an everyone knows her name is lucy hale and that is what she is called on tv and I interviews they never say lucy Kate hale so hy don't you just leave her middle name out since it is being questioned by a lot of people and personally I have found more websites supporting me or at least doubting you than defending you also the allmusic person has to get his information from somewhere and I looked all over the Internet and didn't fin support so idk how he could find resources either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.188.48.107 (talk • contribs) 00:44, 19 December 2013‎ (UTC)[reply]

This is getting kind of pointless now particularly when you don't read what you seem to be replying to. As I said before, she has actual credits as "Lucy Kate Hale". Credits as in that is a name that is displayed when a TV episode or film is shown or broadcast. Credits that she tells them to credit her by. A name she gave the production people and told them that is how she wants to be credited. That is a statement from her directly and that does count. Find some place where she gave some different name and we will have a usable reference. Absent that people are just repeating rumors and speculation that does not make it correct just because it is widely repeated. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:13, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If there is speculation and controversy why can't you just take the middle name out that seems like a very reasonable compromise exspecially because none of the information would even be considered to be wrong — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.188.48.107 (talk) 02:01, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is no speculation and controversy about putting in an official credited name in the article. She has official credits as both "Lucy Hale" and "Lucy Kate Hale" and is not credited with any other name. Anybody can view the episodes and films she is in to verify that info. Released films and tv episodes are reliable sources about info contained in them including credits listed therein. She does not have a birth name listed in the infobox because of this discussion but the full name in the lede is a name she goes/went by and we do have references for that. What? --Ebyabe talk - Repel All Boarders ‖ 23:17, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A number of recent edits regarding her birthday—since June 14, 2016

Since June 14, the birthday of this actress, this article has seen a number of changes to the year she was born (changing the birth year from 1989 to 1986) [6][7][8][9], none of which has been substantiated by a reliable source. Simply put, if you do not have a reliable source to justify this change in her birth year, do not submit the edit.

Here are two reliable sources indicating she is 27 (hence born in 1989, as is how it is in the article): PeopleTeen Vogue. Absent any other reliable sources which say something else, there is no basis for changing the year she was born in the article and will be treated as date vandalism or as a BLP issue.
