So ends the first round of the 2023 WikiCup. Everyone with a positive score moved on to Round 2, with 54 contestants qualifying. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

Epicgenius was in second place with 789 points; a seasoned WikiCup competitor he specialises in buildings and locations in New York.
FrB.TG was in third place with 625 points, garnered from a featured article on a filmmaker which qualified for an impressive number of bonus points.
TheJoebro64, another WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points gained from two featured articles on video games.
Iazyges was in fifth place with 532 points, from two featured articles on classical history.The top sixteen contestants at the end of Round 1 had all scored over 300 points; these included

The second round of the 2023 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to have scored 60 points to advance into round 3. Our top five scorers in round 2 all included a featured article among their submissions and each scored over 500 points. They were:
Iazyges (1040) with three FAs on Byzantine emperors, and lots of bonus points. Unlimitedlead (847), with three FAs on ancient history, one GA and nine reviews. Epicgenius (636), a WikiCup veteran, with one FA on the New Amsterdam Theatre, four GAs and eleven DYKs BennyOnTheLoose (553), a seasoned competitor, with one FA on snooker, six GAs and seven reviews. FrB.TG (525), with one FA, a Lady Gaga song and a mass of bonus points.Other notable performances were put in by Sammi Brie, Thebiguglyalien, 
MyCatIsAChonk, PCN02WPS, and 
AirshipJungleman29.
So far contestants have achieved thirteen featured articles between them, one being a joint effort, and forty-nine good articles. I have already done much of the work, and using this draft as a basis, would like to eventually bring the article itself up to FA-class. I do have some issues with the draft as is: for example, I am trying to convert 1926 ₤ to contemporary USD, for the Bahamian losses. Is there a template or conversion that could help? I cannot find appropriate sources online. Also, I found an image in a newspaper article on Newspapers.com that highlights damage in the Bahamas. Would I violate copyright by clipping it and uploading it to the Wikimedia Commons? As mentioned, I am hoping to bring the main article up to FA status, which would be a first for me, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The fourth round of the competition has finished, with anyone scoring less than 673 points being eliminated. It was a high scoring round with all but one of the contestants who progressed to the final having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were

Congratulations to our eight finalists and all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Considering how much needs to be done for the project, I had the idea of creating a project council to facilitate the day-to-day affairs of the project. The council would consist of project advisors (must be B Rank or higher), a project chief, and a project master (both must be at least A rank). The latter two positions are elected while the first position is open to anyone who is at least B Rank and hasn't been blocked in the last 6 months. Terms will be 6 months for the elected positions while advisors may serve at their own pleasure. These two people are responsible for leading the project and working with the council on actively reducing backlogs and proposing improvements. The council as a whole would work to select vital articles for the project. The advisors would also serve as mentors to those in the lowest four ranks. Anyone who has signed up for the awards scheme and has been ranked I-F will automatically be assigned an advisor by either the chief or the master unless other arrangements are proposed. I envision said council coming up with the vital articles list, reducing backlogs, proposing and writing out guides and common practices, and mentoring newcomers. I also redid the award scheme to be kinda video gamey to be attractive to younger editors so it may get usage. I also reduced the amount of levels significantly for simplicity. I went to sleep after 05z and just assessed the rest after a night's sleep :P .. You would have a whole team doing this normally but I had issued the 12z, 18z, 21z, and 00z-05z in real time. thanks for updating the page. I've been decently busy as of late since I'm less than a month away from graduation for my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). I earned Cum Laude honors for my graduation. I would have had Magna Cum Laude had it not been for the C- in Calc II a couple of years ago (my only grade below a B) before I switched to business. I also minored in Communications and History for some extra knowledge. It's honestly been quite a journey and I found something I'm good at and also like. I was considering creating this article as well to help out with the separate state tornado lists that you've been working on and reaching out towards other editors for, so I wanted to propose it to you and see what you think. Louisiana gets a decent amount of tornadoes each year and has seen some pretty intense-violent ones in history, including one of two F4s spawned by a tropical cyclone. Hey Hurricanehink! I got to thinking some after a handful of GANs and the recent FAC that we as a WikiProject should probably have a source list. We both know meteorology is, in general, a close-knit community. Honestly, we have several things that are reliable sources, which to an outside (non-weather editor) person, would not presume are reliable (like Tweets/Facebook posts from NWS, Mets, or organizations). We also have various things like IEM posting preliminary damage surveys from the NWS, but only NCDC/NCEI post the finalized info and such.
I went ahead and started WP:WXRS. I’ve started just going through various weather event articles (mostly tornado so far), just looking for any of the oddity sources to get them list/shell of sources made. I don’t really want to go through the talk pages to hunt for discussions yet (probably a solid 24-hours of work for that…R.I.P. me).
Anyway, all I wanted to say was if you wanted to help out by listing sources and whatnot, feel free to! Later in life, I will (or someone will) go through talk pages to look for the discussions to see the reliability of the sources and then we will probably have some WikiProject Weather discussions regarding several sources. There is a large and important discussion ongoing, with the goal to completely overhaul and improve the List of F5 and EF5 tornadoes.
