• Kitty Pryde: In January 2018, Tim Miller was announced to be directing a film centered around Kitty Pryde.^[296] In February 2018, Brian Michael Bendis was hired to write the script.^[297]
• Fox's Deadpool 3: In November 2016, plans began for a third Deadpool film.^[91] Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick stated the film would enter production after X-Force was completed,^[298] with Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin scheduled to reprise their roles. Production was planned to take place in Atlanta, Georgia.^[299] Reynolds later revealed that the original plan for the plot, under 20th Century Fox's development, was written as a road trip film with Wade Wilson / Deadpool and James "Logan" Howlett / Wolverine. In his announcement, the actor implied that Jackman would have returned for the project.^{[300][non-primary source needed][301][non-primary source needed]} Karan Soni was briefed about the plans for the film, which he revealed to his boyfriend Roshan Sethi in their first date, having been told that the film would bring Jackman back as Wolverine and that it would involve Deadpool traveling to the North Pole to save Christmas.^[302] After the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney was announced in December 2017 and completed in March 2019, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that Deadpool would be integrated with the MCU under Disney, with Reynolds expected to reprise his role.^[303][304] In December 2019, Reynolds confirmed that a third Deadpool film was in development, though it would be produced by Marvel Studios.^[305] In March 2022, filmmaker Shawn Levy was hired to direct the project and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returned from the previous two films, to write a revised screenplay based on a story penned by the Molyneux sisters.^[306] In September 2022, Hugh Jackman was revealed to be reprising his role as Wolverine in the film, appearing as a co-lead with Reynolds in a similar vein to the initial vision for the film at Fox.^[307] The film in its final iteration, titled Deadpool & Wolverine, was released on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

In March 2019, Marvel Studios regained the film rights to the X-Men, along with the Fantastic Four and Deadpool, after its parent company Disney acquired Fox; they are planned to be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In October 2020, the films in the X-Men series, along with the Fantastic Four films, were rebranded as "Marvel Legacy films" on Disney+.^[308] In WandaVision (2021), Evan Peters appeared as a character named Ralph Bohner who poses as Wanda Maximoff's deceased twin brother Pietro, a reference to his role in the X-Men series as Peter Maximoff.^[309] Patrick Stewart reprised his role as an alternate Charles Xavier / Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).^[310] Kelsey Grammer reprised his role as Hank McCoy / Beast in The Marvels (2023).^[311] A new film featuring the team, which will reboot the franchise for the MCU, entered the early stages of development in September 2023.^[312]

The MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), the sequel to the X-Men films Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018) and a follow-up to Logan (2017), integrated the series' iteration of Wade Wilson / Deadpool, reprised by Ryan Reynolds, and an alternate version of Hugh Jackman's Logan / Wolverine, into the continuity of the MCU, while serving as a send-off for the original franchise.^[313] Additionally, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapičić, Rob Delaney, Brianna Hildebrand, Lewis Tan and Shioli Kutsuna reprised their roles as Dopinder and Blind Al, Vanessa Carlysle, Colossus, Peter Wisdom, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shatterstar and Yukio from the previous Deadpool films, respectively.^{[314][315][316]} Several other actors reprised their roles as characters who were exiled from the original series' universe into the Void, including Aaron Stanford as John Allerdyce / Pyro, Dafne Keen as Laura / X-23, and Tyler Mane as Victor Creed / Sabretooth,^[317][318] as well as the characters Azazel, Juggernaut, Lady Deathstrike, Psylocke, Toad, Callisto, Arclight, and Blob. Additionally, the film's credits feature a tribute to the original franchise in the form of a montage of clips and behind-the-scenes footage set to "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day.^[319]
