La plantilla abierto-cerrado envuelve su argumento entre un corchete redondo izquierdo y un corchete cuadrado derecho. Estos se utilizan para delimitar un intervalo abierto-cerrado en matemáticas, es decir, uno que no incluye el punto de inicio pero sí el punto final.
La plantilla utiliza {{ math }} para garantizar que no haya saltos de línea en la expresión y que los caracteres griegos se vean mejor. Solo debe usarse sola en el texto y no dentro de una plantilla {{ math }} .
Los intervalos abierto-cerrado y cerrado-abierto pueden ser malinterpretados y "fijos" para utilizar corchetes redondos a ambos lados. El uso de estas plantillas debe advertir a los editores que lo que está ahí es lo que se quiere decir y señalar el significado.
