William (Sonny) E. Walters (5 de septiembre de 1924 - 25 de noviembre de 1970) fue un futbolista profesional inglés que jugó como extremo en el Tottenham Hotspur y posteriormente en el Aldershot Town durante las décadas de 1940 y 1950.
Sonny Walters fue asignado al Tottenham Juniors en 1939, representando al equipo de Walthamstow Avenue y anotando 24 goles durante la temporada 1943-44. Firmó formularios profesionales en septiembre de 1944, acumulando 50 apariciones en tiempos de guerra, anotando 14 goles, hasta que sirvió en el ejército de 1945 a 1947. Mientras estaba destinado en Irlanda del Norte, jugó como invitado para el Derry City y se enfrentó al Ejército francés , al Ejército belga , a la RAF y a la Marina Real en partidos representativos.
Jugó para el Tottenham Hotspur entre 1947 y 1957 y en 1949 se ganó un lugar regular en el equipo de la liga del Tottenham Hotspur. Tuvo su oportunidad cuando fue seleccionado para reemplazar a Freddie Cox , quien fue transferido al Arsenal y rápidamente causó una buena impresión. Anotó en su debut en enero de 1947 en una victoria por 2-0 sobre el West Bromwich Albion en White Hart Lane . His name was immortalised in the 1950s Spurs chant "We are the Spurs Supporters and we love to watch them play" (sung to the tune of McNamara's Band)[4] with the lines...... The ref his whistle proudly blows the linesmen wave their flags, The Duke is ready to kick off as he hitches up his bags, We cheer Sonny Walters as he toddles down the line, And the ball like magic is in the net and makes us all feel fine.
In July 1957 he transferred to Aldershot Town where he played for them 66 times scoring 11 goals.
He gained only one international honour when selected to play for England "B" against The Netherlands at Newcastle on 22 February 1950.
He retired from the game in 1959.
