American writer and archaeologist
William Michael Gear , más conocido como W. Michael Gear , (nacido el 20 de mayo de 1955) es un escritor y arqueólogo estadounidense. [1] Es el autor de la serie Forgotten Past de Norteamérica , coescrita con Kathleen O'Neal Gear . Biografía
Gear nació en Colorado Springs, Colorado . Ha publicado sesenta novelas. Es mejor conocido por su serie North America's Forgotten Past, en coautoría con Kathleen O'Neal Gear, sobre la prehistoria de América del Norte. Recibió su licenciatura (1976) y su maestría (1979) de la Universidad Estatal de Colorado . Al finalizar su maestría en antropología física, comenzó a trabajar para Western Wyoming College en Rock Springs, Wyoming, como arqueólogo de campo .
A partir de 1981, Michael, junto con dos socios, creó su propia empresa de consultoría arqueológica, Pronghorn Anthropological Associates. La empresa comenzó a realizar estudios de gestión de recursos culturales en 1982. Después de vender su participación en 1984, fundó Wind River Archaeological Consultants con su esposa, Kathleen O'Neal Gear . [2]
La escritura de Gear se inspiró en imprecisiones históricas que encontró al leer ficción histórica. En 1978, después de leer una novela occidental sobre un recorrido por un sendero llena de imprecisiones, comenzó a trabajar en su primera novela de quinientas cincuenta páginas. Según él, "se lee mal, pero los hechos históricos son correctos". [3]
Gear reside actualmente en Wyoming junto con la autora y coguionista Kathleen O'Neal Gear .
