Parte de los Andes en Perú
La Cordillera Central es parte de los Andes en Perú . Se extiende en dirección norte aproximadamente entre 11º 39' y 12º 37'S y 75º 30' y 76º 20'O [ 1 ] (o entre 11°37' y 12°26'S y 75°30' y 76°18'O) [2] por unos 60 km a 100 km. Contiene las cordilleras Paryaqaqa (P), Yauyos (Y) y Pichqa Waqra (PW). Se ubica en la Región Junín y en la Región Lima . [3]
El nombre Cordillera Central también se aplica a una de las tres cordilleras que atraviesan el Perú en dirección noroeste entre la Cordillera Occidental ("la cordillera occidental") donde se ubica la Cordillera Central de las Regiones Junín y Lima y la Cordillera Oriental ("la cordillera oriental"). [1] El montañista Evelio Echevarría utiliza el término para la cordillera de La Viuda y la cordillera de Khaskaqucha. [4]
