Bevins nació en Manchester, Inglaterra , en 1844. En 1878 emigró a Estados Unidos, estableciéndose en Boston . Allí trabajó para Cummings & Sears y Peabody & Stearns , destacados por sus diseños Shingle Style . En 1882, Bevins se trasladó a Jamestown, donde abrió su propia oficina. [1] En 1884, lo trasladó a Newport, Rhode Island , pero conservó su casa en Jamestown. Practicó hasta su jubilación en 1903. [2]
Bevins se especializó en "cabañas" estilo Shingle para residentes de verano.
